About us
Philadelphia Church International (PCI), Nairobi is one of the assemblies of the Philadelphia Church Ministries International, Inc. (PCMI), which started in Liberia back in the 1940s by the Swedish Free Pentecostal Mission of Sweden.
When the Swedish missionaries arrived in Liberia, they started ministry work in Lofa county, rural Liberia. In the late 1960s they started a fellowship in Monrovia which grew so fast. By 1974, a church building was constructed and the ministry was named Philadelphia/Monrovia Free Pentecostal Church, drawing inspiration from Revelation 3:7 and Hebrews 13:1).
In 1980 the Swedish missionaries turned over the leadership of the church to Rev. Joel Laurore (now Arch Bishop), a Haiti missionary. Five years later, Rev. Laurore handed leadership to the first Liberia, Elder Samuel M. Dorbor Sr, now Apostle Dorbor.
With the vision for expansion, the church was rebranded to Philadelphia Church Ministries International (PCMI) in 1988 under the leadership of Rev. George D. Harris who is now the presiding Bishop of the ministries. PCMI envisions an Africa and a World that is permeated with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
In pursuant of this vision, PCMI exists for the sole purpose of knowing Christ and making Him known in Liberia, Africa and the World at large. To date, PCMI has more than 36 churches across Liberia, 2 church plants in the United States of America (one of which is PCI, USA), a church plant in Ghana, and Ivory Coast respectively.
